| SACB TALK at Changi General Hospital (CGH) |
Reported by Chan Pit Seng Changi General Hospital was privileged to host SACB members for a seminar, site visit and supper on 18 July. The first speaker for the evening was Dr Lee Chung Horn, Consultant Endocrinologist in CGH and also the President of the Singapore Endocrine & Metabolic Society. His interesting topic "Whats the fuss about the New Diabetes Diagnostic Criteria?" attracted a group of 36 participants from the various hospitals, private laboratories and vendors to CGH in spite of the long distance from town. A few nurses from our Diabetic Clinic were also present to lend their support. His talk was followed by a slide show given by the laboratory manager on the amalgamation of Toa Payoh Hospital and old Changi Hospital. The reminiscence of the two old hospitals brought back fond memories of the good old days to those who had once worked there. The transformation was an eye-opener to many young participants who have never had the opportunity to experience the transformation. Each participant was given a brochure on "Tracing our Roots" of Toa Payoh Hospital and some souvenirs to take home. The talk was rounded up with a tour of the Clinical Laboratory at basement 1 and for a change, participants were treated to supper at CGH food court instead of the usual tea reception. The general feedback was "the time at CGH was well spent". |
