Excerpts from the Annual General Meeting

Dr Sharon Saw chaired this year's AGM, and extended apologies on behalf of the President, Professor Aw Tar Choon, who was unable to attend the meeting.  

Key points from the AGM are mentioned briefly below:  

SACB Constitution  
The SACB constitution has been revised to include a new membership category (student membership) as well as an option for current associate members to upgrade to ordinary membership following a change of the criteria for upgrade. The post of Immediate Past President, a non-elected post, was created to forge a link between the new president of the society and his or her incumbent.  

Scientific Program  
Last year saw a series of Hospital and Corporate Evenings whereby the various hospitals and corporate members hosted the scientific sessions. TTSH presented an evening of lectures and a laboratory tour in October, followed by NUH in November. We also had invited speakers from Abbott and Roche Diagnostics.  

Education Program 
Feedback regarding previous education programs have been encouraging and more will be planned. Further details will be released by the new council. 

Education Fellowships 
Three Education Grants were given out to SACB members last year. A/Professor Evelyn Koay was the recipient of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry (IFCC) Education Grant, while both Ms Ong Siew Kim and Mr Andrew Tee presented their posters at the our ASEAN Federation of Endocrine Societies (AFES) Congress in Bangkok.  

Dr Saw thanked the outgoing committee for their efforts during the year.
