Dr Sharon Saw chaired this year's
AGM, and extended apologies on behalf of the President, Professor Aw Tar
Choon, who was unable to attend the meeting.
Key points from the AGM are
mentioned briefly below:
SACB Constitution
The SACB constitution has
been revised to include a new membership category (student membership)
as well as an option for current associate members to upgrade to ordinary
membership following a change of the criteria for upgrade. The post of
Immediate Past President, a non-elected post, was created to forge a link
between the new president of the society and his or her incumbent.
Scientific Program
Last year saw a series of
Hospital and Corporate Evenings whereby the various hospitals and corporate
members hosted the scientific sessions. TTSH presented an evening of lectures
and a laboratory tour in October, followed by NUH in November. We also
had invited speakers from Abbott and Roche Diagnostics.
Education Program
Feedback regarding previous
education programs have been encouraging and more will be planned. Further
details will be released by the new council.
Education Fellowships
Three Education Grants were
given out to SACB members last year. A/Professor Evelyn Koay was the recipient
of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry (IFCC) Education
Grant, while both Ms Ong Siew Kim and Mr Andrew Tee presented their posters
